It’s the little things!
It’s the little things!
My Husband Matt and I finally gave in to all the hype and bought an air fryer this week. We used it for the first time on Thursday night. Our oven doesn’t seem to like cooking chips, and I don’t like deep frying food, so I have to admit I was quite excited (and cynical) about what would happen…
Chips…cooked…to…perception! That’s what happened!!!
Cheese melted on the top, vinegar and tomato ketch and boom – I was so happy!
I messaged my friend and her reply made me smile
“It’s the simple things isn’t it”
And you know what my loves, it really is.
People often think wellness is about green juices, yoga and gong baths, and of course, it can be those things, but it can also be chocolate, raspberry lemonade or cheesy chips.
One of the things that I do at this time of year is to buy daffodils; they are sunshine in flower form, and they remind me of my Nan. They make me smile. I also love that they are usually about 99p a bunch. It’s also important to buy yourself flowers once in a while.
I’d like you to think about the little things that make you smile, make you happy and help you feel good.
Then if you need to go and get that thing, the cake, the flowers etc. You don’t need to spend a lot that is not what this is about – it needs to make you smile.
Maybe it’s a “thing”, maybe it’s a song that makes you happy that you haven’t heard in a while. Fire up the gramophone and whack on that music! And smile!
Share what the “little things” are for you in the comments, please, I’d love to know.
(If you struggle to think of anything, maybe go and buy a bunch of daffodils and see if they make you smile. You can get them in most supermarkets. In Tesco right now you can get them as plants in a little paper pot for £1.50! Very lovely)
Maybe they can become your flower for January, and they can make you smile every year like they do me! xxx

Well, I LOVE Ed Sheeran and whenever one of his songs comes on in the car or in a coffee shop I immediately feel my heart lift and my face break into a smile; of course, I have his CDs at home so can access this simple “little thing” whenever I need to lift my mood (even hubby has started singing along now!!)
I like a poached egg with partly runny yolk! Yum 😃
And I too love daffodils…or as my friend who recently died…referred to miniature ones…affected…that funny wee word he created is typical him!! 🌼
Daffettes 🌼
A clean floor and some fresh herbs on the windowsill in the kitchen makes me very happy indeed!
Also putting your pyjamas on before dinner time 👌😌
I love putting my pyjamas on early too Chloe, especially after a tiring day. X
My vanilla coffee first thing in the morning whilst it’s dark and the world (aka my family) is asleep – pure moment of serenity for me
part of what I call “Mum Magic” is finding those little pockets of time. Good for you! xxx
Seeing my grandson
Mine would be having a hot chocolate or a cinnamon bun! And getting i to my comfy clothes the minute I can.
Top tip. Asda do an amazing chocolate squirty cream. It’s the best on hot chocolate. Which I now have to go and make because you’ve made me think of it lol Thank you xxx
Im with you Paul on the air fryer! And the rest of you all when it comes to flowers, good coffee & getting into comfy clothes/ pjs early. Cuddles with the cats & my little girl makes everything better.
Another absolute joy – A crackling, open fire, on a cold winters day. 🔥 so grateful to have had ours lit most of the weekend.
