January 9th

“The art of knowing is knowing what to ignore.”

– Rumi

January 9th - Paul Scadding

Today, we continue on the theme of wisdom. The other day, I shared a quote by Rumi and want to give you more of his words as they are so profound. Jalal ad-Din Muhammad Rumi, better known today as simply Rumi was a 13th-century Persian poet and mystic. Which of these quotes speak to you and why?

These are not to be rushed; they need deep and inquisitive feeling into and the wisdom will be revealed…

“Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it.”

“Yesterday, I was clever, so I wanted to change the world. Today, I am wise, so I am changing myself.”

“These pains you feel are messengers. Listen to them.”

“You wander from room to room hunting for the diamond necklace that is already around your neck!”

“Live life as if everything is rigged in your favour.”

“Be empty of worrying. Think of who created thought.”

“The wound is the place where the Light enters you.” (Probably my favourite)

If there are any questions, please ask. With the words above, there are not really right or wrong answers. What matters is your trusting your interpretation of how the words speak to you.

I particularly like “You wander from room to room hunting for the diamond necklace that is already around your neck!”
I think it’s important (I’m realising) to realise how valuable you are.
Someone said to be “diamonds are made under pressure “.
What a great way I thought of reframing overcoming hardship and how it shapes you. 💎 ♥️

    • It’s a profound piece of wisdom. Many ancient wisdom traditions tell similar stories about how we wander the woods looking for the elephant we thought we lost but was in the back yard. It’s very much a “there’s no place like home” (Wizard of Oz) statement. A similar wisdom asks us to consider…

“Are you wealthy if you have treasure buried on your property but do not realise it’s there?”

I really like “Live life as if everything is rigged in your favour.” It instantly makes you stand taller and more confident. The mindset shift makes you positive and not have self doubt in your decisions!

    • There is a lovely affirmation model that I teach people…

“With regard to my _____________, everything is rigged in my favour, so I relax and act accordingly.”

The blank, could be; health, money, house move, job interview, travel, tax return etc etc etc…
