Wow

“Paul you really clearly have such a natural infectious enthusiasm for life.”

This was one of the best things that my mentor and Dear friend Fiona Harrold ever said to me. It wasn’t always this way. There was a time when I hardly ever laughed or smiled, I was completely lost inside of myself. The other day someone said to me, “You say Wow a lot, did you know that?” I told them that I make it a priority to notice what’s around me and find things to find wonderment in. Life is exciting and there is a lot to say wow about.

Pay attention. Life is amazing and beautiful and wonderful. Yes, times can be tough and we can face huge challenges but it doesn’t mean life isn’t still beautiful and wonderful. We choose where we put our attention. Notice the fascinating, the beautiful, the odd, the unusual, the extraordinary.

I visited an aquarium recently with my Husband and I was mesmerised by these little creatures called Weedy Sea Dragons. They are exquisite little things that look alien, magical as if JK Rowling had written them into the pages of a book.

 

In that moment, these tiny creatures held my whole attention; I was in awe. This is a practice that can be achieved by noticing, being mindful and paying attention. It grounds you in the present moment, expands your horizons and feeds your spirit.

  • If you’re feeling stressed and worried with all that’s going on right now, it’s a perfect time to develop a meditation practice. Find an object you love, I use these beautiful ceramic coral / flowers from @chiveuk . Place the object in front of you and soften your gaze, breath deeply and slowly and keep your single pointed focus on your object. If your mind starts to wander, take another deep breath and place your focus back on the item in front of you. If your mind is agitated you could say to yourself over and over....”I am enough, I am safe, all is well.” Meditation is a practice the more you do it the easier it becomes.   • On Thursday night I had the unexpected pleasure of seeing @robgreenmusic perform. Smart, soulful, SUPERB. Rob shared a quote from Rev. C. L Franklin the Father of Aretha Franklin... “If you think you are too weak, you are too weak; Whatever your mental attitude is, has a lot to do with who you’re going to be and how successful you are in your efforts.” I love these words and I love Rob’s song that was inspired by these words.
